bracing help was created by mark1122
i am looking for someone to make a brace for me.
i would like to take my bike apart 1 more time.
i have found that i have a weave in the frame when i go around a bend very fast. I have a lot of work done to this bike , and i suspect that it could be the fact that i have less trail now.
It stands to reason that the new bikes get away with less trail due to there ridgide frames.
By adding more bracing, i may, or may not not help this. Just the same, i feel i want to take 1 last kick at this. If it still weaves, thats fine, it's not really a big deal. I will feel that i have done all that i can do though.
So what i need is the 2 braces that are shown in the Santuary PDF.

Located Here:
kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_docman&...w&gid=231&Itemid=108

look at the_frame PDF (15th from top)
Look at #4 in the PDF . I need the 2 frame rail piece below #4.
can anyone make me these?
does anyone have an old frame they can cut these rails out of and sell them to me??

cutting them out of an old frame wouldnt work theyd be same diameter as your existing pieces ,you warp the hell out of em to stretch them around existing tubes.have you ever had that frame on a jig to make sure its straight? B)

sometimes being a little crooked isnt noticable at low speeds, but at higher speeds things tend to be more obvious.these old kaw frames are mass produced with what id call close enough construction at best, when you start welding things on them it can make it worse as frame gets pulled in differant directions. At max rpm, 5th gear it rides true and smooth. No steering damper.
its just at lean with speed.

i can feel it twitch when u move on the seat .Trail,?
i don't feel that it can ever be flex free at lean.
I think that this is just the way it is for 30 yr old frames.
they have made a lot of advancements over the years, mono shocks, and ridge-ad frames, have allowed for a lot less rake and trail. now i have reduced the rake and trail without the rest of the modern frame upgrades.so it stands to reason that i will experience weave.
i agree with u 100% that the frame should be true to start with.
I'm just to cheap to bother having it checked, since i feel it probably ok. i feel it rides good enough now.
I just want to do all the bracing i can, before i repaint the frame.
can u give me anymore incite on welding these on the frame? am i at much risk of warpage if done by a professional welder?
Did u consider these for your frame?
i think i have all the same bracing as u so far, i just need to add the 2 rails from the neck down to the front rails.

Hey Mark, I've done them on my frame. Professional welder should be able to do this no problem. Making the bend and doing the fish mouthing was more work then the welding (a buddy did the welding). Tacked both sides on first and welded short sections moving from one side over to the next as not to put too much heat in one spot. Here's a pic of the whole chassis and some detail shots of the neck.

Might want to think about picking up a Kosman frame brace kit and heavy duty motor mounts if they have them in stock. Here is the web site.

www.kosman.net/page12.htm#fbk

I have the frame brace kit and a set of AVS motor mounts and they made a HUGE difference.

on the front lower rails , yours look straight. i noticed that Sanctuary put a bend at the top of theirs. Why do u think they made the bend? why did u make yours straight?
are u going to add the 1's i'm looking for?
Do u have a weave at high speed lean?
