"Konging" a frame?

I recently posted about welding as I want to hard tail my KZ750H. Today, while researching this on the web, I came across a Honda 750 site which showed the process of "Konging" a frame. By cutting and moving the two horizontal frame bars behind the tank (simplyfing here)it results in a classic Harley rear end appearance, yet retains the shocks! Best of both worlds....maybe. Has anyone here done this with a Kawa? Or even know what I'm talking about? Thanks!

We used to do this kind of thing, back in the day, to our Triumphs and BSAs.

Yes, the link Kraz1 posted is the one I found. Actually, I don't think that much cutting would be necessary. Below is a manual shot of the KZ750 frame that I have "Konged" in a paint program. In it, the horizontal rear tubes have simply been cut at their back end and bent down a bit, then the excess rear frame sections have been removed. I threw in a small gusset at the top of the bent tube where it is rewelded to gain a little strength. I would probably remove the rear fender mount as well (but left it on in the pic).....



The website has pics of the results down at the bottom of the page. I was wondering if this is doable, and what to watch out for?

Yep, those are pics on that website. I am wondering if what I drew above would work? And what's the best way to bend those tubes if I only cut them at the back end?
