Want duel rotor front wheel, which will interchan?

Hey there guys, I noticed that in my repair manual that some of the Kz bikes came with duel caliper and rotors for the front wheel.... Anyone know which will interchange to my 1983 Kz550 LTD C-4????? I notice that this bike really does not have that much stopping power that im used too with my old ZX-6 bikes had.... would be nice to "upgrade" the brakes!.... Thanks guys!

Keep in mind you will need to change out the master cylinder also. The dual disk caliper is not the same as the single disk caliper

I don't believe his stock wheel will accept a brake disk on the other side, so he's going to need a front wheel & disks from another model, and matching forks may be needed as well, since dual brake disks are typically smaller in diameter & therefore the calipers are located lower on the forks.
Maybe a GPz550. And perhaps a KZ750-4.
You can cross-reference the parts at Kawasaki.com to get an idea of what might work.

Also, the double rotors were thinner to reduce unsprung weight. Not really cut and dry but possible.

I will see about getting some photos up... but it is a stock wheel, i know for a fact i can not use this wheel.... just dont know what wheel i do need..... my forks have a caliper mount on both sides.... but only one on there now!... will see about getting some photos up tomorrow... thanks guys!

another option would be to just get the whole front end from a dual rotor bike. Probably save some wrenching time too, just on/off with the forks and MC.

I checked all the part #'s for a 83 kz750 and every thing has the same #'s excepy the wheel itself!.... so it shoul fit.... will be getting one this week!

Check the numbers on the disk brake rotors. I've been through this on a 550 and it was a headache.
As it turns out, the 550 LTD forks have mountings for dual calipers, but the mounting points are a little farther away from the axle than on a true dual disk fork. What this means is caliper and brake pads will not line up properly with the disk, because the true dual-disk rotors are slightly smaller in thickness and diameter.
In order to put a dual disk wheel on a U.S. model LTD 550, you would also need the forks from a dual disk model. In the early 1980's, this means you have to use Gpz 550 forks and wheel.
Other countries got some LTD's and Standards with dual disks, but in the U.S. it was only the GPZ (550D and 550H).
Another factor to juggle is that the D model gpz had larger fork diameters than the later H model gpz. (The later gpz used thicker walled tubing).
End result is that I have one LTD fork leg I can't use on my GPZ's even though it almost looks identical to a gpz fork leg.
I can't say what differences the 750 line will have. If the dual 750 rotors are the same part number as your single 550 rotor, then I'd say it should work as long as the fork spacing is the same and axle parts are the same etc.
