Wanted dual front brakes

20 Mar 2006 21:51

I want to change from a single disk front brake to a dual system. Does any one know what parts I need, and possibly have any parts? Or know were a whole kit is for bike listed below.

All you need is another disk, maybe a master cylinder, a caliper, and the splitter with another line.
I suggest 79 or so 650SR rotors as they are thinner than the single disk rotor and drilled.

I have had second thoughts about locking this thread, so I modified the original post so I could unlock it.

By the way, 650, 750 twin, and I think 77-79 1000, disk rotors are the same diameter and bolt pattern, and the dual disk rotors are thinner (less weight) than the single disk rotors. If you already have a 5/8" master cylinder, then it will work (actually a 1/2" will work also).
I don't know of anyone selling a kit.

The mounting holes are 2-3/4" apart on forks. These are 2-1/2" apart. And the spliter has no space for brake light switch.

The parts in the pic use a brake light switch in the lever .. Just change the splitter as wirman says :)

you can also get an inline brake light switch (part of the banjo bolt) i am thinking about doing the same thing. Anyone know which 650/750 models have compatible dual disks?
