The seller says MKII/ST. What's so confusing to you? He thinks they are the same and says his seat will fit both. Why aren't you getting that?? He says his seat fits a MKII and it doesn't. Not proper listing / selling. There is no reasonable excuse for having "MK2" in the listing. Period.

Apparently Like YOU the seller didn't know what he had... According to YOU he listed it as MKII/ST.

MKII/ST don't belong together as far as BODY WORK is concerned.

BUT YOU LEARNED THAT 2 WEEKS EARLIER... :)

And then went ahead without properly reading the description and BOUGHT it anyway.. :) Insert your own foot in mouth...

No confusion on my part...

I know these things already...

Then you wake up and say Oh my??? MKII/ST... Let me threaten the seller with negative feedback/paypal dispute.

Your Words Below:

"The alternative is for me to leave negative feedback and file a complaint through PayPal. I've had good luck with that in the past. Hopefully he'll have some sense and let me off the hook here".

No Arai59, I'm not the seller or connected.:)

However, the lesson here 79MKII is... ASK the Right questions before you make the purchase not AFTER.

Shoulder your part.. Don't make "Ebay Power Seller Statements" about how it's the sellers fault he doesn't know what he has, and how you're going to Negative/Dispute him because of your mistakes by not asking the right questions until after it was to late.;)

Stand in the Sellers shoes for a moment, and imagine what it would feel like to "YOU", to be threatened with a Negative and possibly Disputed for an honest mistake. You really think that seller woke up that day with intentions of Bait & Switch Tactics and Giving it to YOU in the Seat?

I offered a compromise because we both have blame to share. That was my entire point. I never threatened the seller in any way - never mentioned neg feedback. Simply asked if he'd relist if I paid the fees. He agreed - we're both happy. It doesn't really matter what you think. I've already got positive feedback from him! ;)

Would this be of use to you. MKII seat with 500 miles on it removed 8/83. Original owner cut down the seat. I tried to have it redone as stock, but wasn't happy so it's sat ever since. $75 and I'll pay shipping. No charge for dust/dirt.:)

 I thought so too but the actual seller was MUCH easier to deal with. HE owned up to his share of fault and we worked it out no problem. He advertised as MK@/ST because he thought they were the same - he told me so himself. Neg feedback was only mentioned here, not to the seller. If he would have tried to force me to accept the seat then I would have considered it because it was misrepresented as fitting a MKII. I was willing to pay the fees all along - I owned my part from the start. I gotta quit getting suckered in by these internet provokers. Especially the ones that think the entire eBay process is based on the buyer asking questions. As if the seller has no responsibililty to know what he has or to represent it properly. It's OK not to mention any faults or fitment issues - it's up to the buyer to ask...

Got a great seat on the way from RonKZ650 - Thank you Ron! The eBay seller also made out pretty well - he relisted the seat correctly as an ST seat and sold it for $150. That's $50 more that what I had paid him.

Racer Z - you're very right when you ask if I thought the seller intentionally tried to misrepresent the seat. I don't think he did. As long as I paid the fees (actually a little over $12), then he should agree to relist - and he did. We both admitted our share of fault and moved on. Everyone is happy. ;)

You're probably right that threatening with negative feedback might not have been the right thing to do in this case - it wasn't misrepresented intentionally. I was just thinking aloud after I realized my mistake - I never threatened the seller. I contacted him with the question within a few minutes of the auction ending and he answered honestly. Granted, the question should have been asked BEFORE I made an offer, but he is to blame for incorrectly listing "MK2" in the auction. We shared the blame and now have another happy eBay ending.

I made a mistake as a buyer one time and it cost me $250.00. It was my greed that got me but oh well.

This guy had a set of original Z1 carbs listed that said "Not Smoothbores" well I saw the 17mm drain plug and thought damn that is a steal for a set of smoothbores so I bid on them and won. I should have stayed away from the crippie that day. I would have loved to get a set of smoothbores for $250 but got the original Z1 carbs instead. Since I do have an early Z1 it was no big deal. Its not like I lost my money because they would go for what I paid for them easy if I decided to get rid of them. You can never have to many parts in my opinion. That seat would make a good shop stool had you got stuck with it since it will not fit the bike

I really wanted a Corbin Gunfighter style and had one made at Sargent - the quality is great but I'm not happy with the looks. I think it would be better on a road race style bike. Anway, I really want a stock type with the foam a little lower in the front. Kind of dished out a bit, ya know? PMC in japan was carrying them and the manufacturer went out of business. I've been searching the world over ever since.

I'll try to post some pictures:

Here's the Sargent MKII seat I have now -

Here's a close up of my seat from Sargent:

It's very comfortable - had them put their super good foam in it (I forget the name) and they did a great job quality wise. It just didn't come out like I thought it would (more like a gunfighter - which they don't make for the MKII's)

Yea, that's the plan anyway. Now I just need to find someone that can actually do it! Sargent wasn't very flexible at all. They wanted every dimension from me up front and that was very hard to do. I see now that I'd change a few things but I've got about $500 in the first seat - can't really afford to try again!
