17x3 or 17x3.5

would there be that much of a difference between a 17x3 with stock forks or a 17x3.5 with upside down forks?I have a 17x3.5 but no upside down forks.i have stock forks but no 17x3 so either way i still have to buy some parts.it probably will be easier to buy the rim but will the handling on the stock forks be that much different?

It really depends on the springs and thier respective rates that are used in those shocks. Plus the amount of oil in them.

I'm sure you can tune either ones to be better than origional with a little work.

Do what you like!

You probably wont have much difference between a 3 inch or 3.5 inch wheel. forks on the other hand big difference. I would be more concerned about the forks than the size of the wheel. just my .02

thanks thats what i was asking about the whole set up not just the rim.the title could be misleading.I have never felt the upside down forks set up.do you notice a big diff between that and say more of a stock set with the x3.i have a set tl 1000 tubes but no trip tree.if it is a big diff. than i will get a tree.if not i will leave my forks and just buy a katana wheel for now.im kinda torn between the 2 looks i like the beefy look up front, but i love the stock look.so i may let the handling decide.

your bike has a pretty healthy rake to it from the look i get with your pictures i'd probably stick to the stock front as it will never be a real handler it will always be a looker not a handler by. by the way the rake your has look's alot like mine on both of my drag bikes between 7 and 10 degrees

yup you right i didnt think about the rake.i still may go with the upside down for the beef look but i will wait.im in the process of changing the back to a 200mm tire and something about skinny forks up front in my mind is not sitting right(looks wise)

Maybe I'm missin something here, but why not just bolt together the wheel and forks you already have and get on down the road?

i dont wanna ride 1 mag 1 spoke i wanna match.the rims i have the front is a 3.5 and wont fit stock forks.i had heard i could bolt the 3.5 with but no fender(dont know if thats true)so if i wanna match i gotta come up with a combo thats suitable for me.im not against stock forks but i dont have the mag to fit so i have to get 1.

The beefier upside down forks would balance the looks of the bike better. But be careful as most upside down forks are shorter. and with the rake you have you might be lacking in the ground clearance department.
