I am bobbing my 1981 kz550 and i would like to put 18" spoke wheels on it, I am not sure what years might fit easily. I would also consider 16"

Is your bike a 550-Ltd? If so, the 81-82 KZ650-CSR wheels are a direct bolt-on. The CSR has spoked wheels - 19" front, 16" rear - each w 48 spokes.

Just some stuff... It's kinda typical for the 550 wheels to be installed on the CSR. Checking the diagrams at Kawasaki.com, you'll see that the two bikes share a number of wheel parts.
