relace a rim... Question
13 Sep 2009 07:30
OK, I know someone knows the answer to this.... My 18" 76 kz900 rim I relaced last spring, and its worked out great, but there is no, white letter in 18". So this winter I want to relace a 16" rim to my hub. Where do I get the spokes and rim, and is there any special tricks to doing it??
Any one ever relace a 16" rim to a 76 kz hub????

used to be very common to lace 16" harley rim to 900 or 1000 hub.or just buy yourself some of that white paint they use for touching up white letters on tires, probably much easier
Still recovering, some days are better than others.

Umm.... thats a front tire, and I have been told by the tire people its a different shape and will make the bike handle poorly. Maybe you know something I dont??? Have you ever tried it? If it would work that would be great!

:woohoo: If you have an outlet that actually has a 130/90/18 in RWL I would be glad to hear it. In May yhis year I spent countless hours calling and trying to find one. A few claimed they had them, but NONE actually did. they used to be available but they quit making them.

bridgestone spitfires come in raised white letters or black your choice go to any decent bike shop they will be able to get them for you very easily. had lots of 130/90-18 in raised white leters or black when ever they came in rwl it was always by mistake cause i don't like advertising for anybody myself unless there is some sponsership money involved.

Re: relace a rim... Question

I'd have 2 mint 1976 KZ900s in my garage for $1000 each if this "upgrade" was not out there. I'd call on the bike out of the paper and it's mint, so I run out there only to find the bike is butchered and stupid looking with a 16" wheel laced on, so no purchase. This has been years ago obviously, but my personal attitude still stands. It's stupid looking and doesn't work worth crap, but to each his own. All this for white letters???
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
