Rearsets... was created by clutch
So, after sitting on a new sportbike recently, I decided that rearsets are not a bad idea for my 82 kz750 e3. Looking around I see a few sites that mention having a model that fit the 750. I know a few of you have rearsets and am wondering what brands are good, and which I should shy away from. Any input on rearsets in general would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Clutch

on some kz's it is easy to flip -flop the peg bracketts upside down, you need to put the left on the right and vice versa...and re-insert the pegs and pins so the pegs don't flop down....sounds confusing well...it "is" simple if i had a picture.. and it gives you in most cases a way better "feel" cause.. your leveraging in turns more on the balls of your feet and nearer the swingarm pivot poits.... your model i've not done a home made jobber on...but it's the first thing i do when i get a z bike...the first!!!..then you either adjust your foot positions and adjust your brake and shifter on their splines to get where you can shift/brake...or get a welder to shorten and reweld the control ends of the shifter/brake........other than that you can always pay 225-265 for "pretty" setbacks-rearsets.....i'll try and get pic of how it is done on earlier bikes for this thread this weekend.....the other thing to consider about custom made rearsets is that they have metal pegs often...which can be buzzy and slippery in the right conditions...but they look cool.....the usualy suck compared to rubber stock pegs though

this is not a up close picture ...but one i have handy on file....it shows my pegs in the flipped and reversed position...which raised and moved em back a few inches each way...i have a long foot so have not trimmed the levers/pedals as of yet...the pegs used to be way boring and now can really control the rear end in carving corners...imo

bad picture but oh well i'll leave it and retry

Hmmm... I will have to have another look at flipping my brackets. The switching sides part may be what I hadn't considered, but it looked like it wouldn't be possible with the stock brackets...

I've had Raask's that I liked and I like the Tarozzi's I have now...but in hindsight, for the low cost, I'd buy a set of R1 or ZXR pegs off ebay and fab them to fit like Old Man Rock and others here have done. Just my $.02.

use the rear sets off a FZR6. There will be some mods you will have to make...and a change to the shifter linkage, and also the extention of the master cylinder arm to fit the brake of the FZR's rear set....

I did the flipped stock mounts and those are a good start, but I wanted to move the pegs back more and up a little so I'm putting a bracket between the passenger peg mounts and the frame. I'm using a 3 piece clamp made by mid-usa to attach to the frame. The plate will hold the brake lever and rear master cylinder. Then I just weld some peg mounts onto the bracket. A bit more involved, but since I've already powdercoated my frame I didn't want to redo the work. Also I didn't want to use the passenger mounts as they are a bit too far back. I'll post some pics once I get them on. I made my first set but they are a bit too long so I get to try again later this week.

However, if the frame wasn't powdercoated I would weld on some tabs to mount up some cbr or zx rearsets.

@ Craig.... First image... those are the whackest rear sets I've ever seen.... Must have been costly!

For the most part, any rear set can be used... Use the frame foot peg mounting holes for your mounting plates that your new foot rests will attach to...

Or if you have a welder, weld up your own mounting system.

I bought my ZX7 rear sets used... Buffed them out, no one knows the difference.

Had these fabbed up a long time ago. FZR1000 controls and pegs. If I remember correctly the Master Cylinder is from a TZ. They are anodized black after polishing.

Took some movement of the break lever to MC arm. Other than that the peg hadware was left stock FZR.
