Front sprocket cover problems

I am ready to change my front sprocket and clutch cable. I cant get the cover off. There is interference. It hits the frame before it slides out far enough. Anyone else have this problem or have any ideas?

Remove the sprocket cover fasteners including the clutch adjustment cover, the left foot peg assembly and the shifter lever.

There should be enough "Wiggle Room" to get the sprocket cover off.

I have had all that stuff off. I just put it back together to ride a little more.
There doesnt seem to be enough wiggle room. I dont want to bend that shifter shaft by forcing it too much

I am tempted to get the grinder out. I know this is a bad idea. Or a big hammer perhaps.

your motor has rubber mounts they might be worn enough that the motor could be settling back in the frame. have you noticed any extra vibrations latley. also check your motor mount bolts to see if they have loosened up i have run in to this problem before.

i have looked into my motor mounts and they appear to be in good shape and the bolts are all torqued to spec.

Well there are some big welds on the frame there. I am going to see if i can clean them up a little in that area and maybe that will give me just enough room to get it off.

Couldn't you unbolt the motor mounts and raise the engine? Roy

the engine would need to go forward or down. not up. I think this would be harder but it might be my last resort. I was hoping this would be a quick easy afternoon project.

Did you take the starter cover off also? I can't get my sprocket cover off unless I do.
