Broken Damper Piston Ring, *#)^!!!

I'm having a hell of a time finding a replacment damper piston ring for a KZ650. It's not even listed as a part available and under part number it is all part of the damper, which is no longer availabe. Would using emulators eliminate the need for the piston ring? As I already have the forks done, but for the broken ring I wouldn't mind just blowing the $ for emulators rather than scrapping them over a tiny ring.

Maybe but the part does not seem to be available outside ordering the entire damper. And they no longer make them outside of maybe ordering from Works which is way out of the price ballpark.
