Kz900 Seat

Anyone know if this seat will work for my Kz900? Are the seat hinges the same from the Z1?

Seat lock design is completely different between Z1 and KZ900, and imo not feasible to attempt modifying, either at seat or frame.
As to the hinges, the Z1 seat hinges and locations appear the same as on KZ900. So I believe the Z1 seat would fit the KZ900 hinges, but would be used without the lock post and therefore without having a functional seat lock.
Would recommend finding a KZ900 seat.
Am guessing, but uncertain, that KZ1000 seat would bolt on. But please await better advice.
Good Luck!

I have a pan, albeit in not great shape. I bought new foam and a seat cover from AmericanClassix. I'm having nothing but issues with the seat cover, though. I just doesn't want to stay on. I guess I'll have to try another brand. This one isn't wide enough to pin onto the triangles on the pan and uses a drawstring to hold it in place. Sounds like a great idea, but it isn't.
How does the travelcade cover from Z1E attach to the pan? Have you had good luck with it?

Actually, I bought a 'saddlemen' KZ1000A seat cover from Z1E...it can be attached by either the puncture method using the points on the seat pan or the drawstring. As it turned out, some of my 'points' were rusted and fell off during attachment so I used a combination of puncture and the drawstring. One thing you mentioned was that the seat cover seemed a bit small on the 'travelcade' cover...I also found it so on the 'saddlemen' cover. I solved this dilemma by leaving the seatcover/pan out in the sun which made it more supple and stretchy AND having an extra set of hands (my wife) to help pull the cover around the foam/pan.

The saddlemen is the cover I have actually. I'll have to take it back off and see if I can punture it in a few places. Were you attaching it to the triangles above the tubing that holds the drawstring or at the tubing? Not sure I asked that very well.

Just looked at one of the KZ1000A1 seats and I used the tube that the drawstring is in to fasten to the puncture triangles (bend them out w/screwdriver) and then push them through the seat material and then bend the triangles back against the seat pan. This is where you can run into trouble as rusty 'triangles' don't have many bends before they break.

Thanks, Bob. I actually tore my seat cover trying to put it on so I'll either be patching it and trying to install it again or ordering another cover. It's a real bummer, the outside of the saddlemen cover looked really nice.
Anyone using the corbin replica seat? It looks really nice and although I don't think I'll be shelling out the $365 for it, I was wondering what the reviews were like for it. Considering the condition of my pan, I am tempted to just get a whole new seat.

I believe AmericanClassic has a fully assembled replacement seat as well for about the same amount of money. Any thoughts?
