Aha....cut it one link too short, did we ???
Well, don't feel bad.....cuz we've all done that at least once.;)

I, personally, would NOT put an extra link in there with 2 master links. A master link is the weakest part of any chain....and now you'd have TWO of them. Bad idea, IMO.
Bite the bullet, buy another new chain and cut it correctly next time.

PS: not knowing your abilities/experience.....but.....you DO have the axle all the way forward in the swingarm slots, don't you ??......just asking.....

Is it the same chain that came off the bike before the resto? Looks like the '77 Kz1000 should have a 92 link 630 chain from what I can find (same as my 900).

If it is a 92 link and it still doesn't fit, something ain't right.

What about going down one or two teeth on the rear sprocket? Sprockets are less expensive than o-ring chains and you'll get better cruising RPM.

If not already done, would loosen nut at rear end of torque link, loosen rear axle nut (very loose), loosen both wheel adjusters and drop them out of position, and kick rear tire (as in football  ) all the way forward.

Easiest done with rear end suspended and tire off ground. Usually works well with bike on centerstand.

Good Luck! :)
