I have read or (beleive I have) that you can use gold wing shocks with the gs1100e swingarm. I just picked up the swingarm if I ordered a set of gs1100 shocks would those work as well??

i'm looking to find this out my self i have two bikes with gs1100 swingarms but they are both drag bikes and have strutts instead of shocks so i'm curious to find out what shocks work the best as i'm converting over one for the street.

The answer is yes to both questions. However, If you are building a sport bike which you want to handle well, you want to keep the ass as high as you can. The GS swingarm is quite a bit longer and the mounts are set way back. This means that if you use the original GS shocks the ass will be quite low. Much lower than the stock position. This would be nice for a bike which is intended to go in a straight line. The Lead Wing shocks are 14" long and will raise the tail to just a smidgen over the stock height. The ones I put on my bike are made by Progressive and are part #12-1205B They come without springs, and you have to pick the springs you want, dependent on color and stiffness. I bought mine at Bikebandit.com. If anyone of you want a set of GS shocks, I bought a set of good used ones to put on this bike which I did not use because I did not like the low rear. They can be yours for what I paid for them. That was $75. They are complete and they are Chrome. Postage would be about $12 anywhere in the lower 48.

Let me see how much the postage would be for the "Great White North" I would declare customs at $20 so you would not have to pay any. What is your postal code? If you wish you can email me; otto@condormodels.com

From past experience, make sure you get the Canadian guys name & address exactly as it goes on each line vertically or they wont deliver them, if you sell to him. Make sure his payment will be able to be cashed outside of Canada also.

GS swingarm with GS shocks, takes some screwing around but it can be done. My front end is lowered 2" as well, so the GS shocks will work - same length as the Kaw shocks that were on there before and the wheelbase was already + 1.5-2" longer than stock.

Seems to go straight & around corners, so far....
