I have a '78 kz1000a2 with spokes and a '79 kz650sr with mags that I would like put on the kz1000. The wheels swap no problem but the rotors on the 650 are about 1 inch smaller. Will this be a problem? I realize there is not a much pad surface in contact but since the 1000 would end up with double rotors up front that may make up for the difference.

No I think you need to find rotors that fit. Axles are different sizes on the two bikes too.

Used axel, spacers etc... from 1000 and everything fit great except rotors. Didn't notice till i went to put the spoked wheel from the 1000 on the 650 and the rotor would not clear the caliper. Mounting holes for calipers are slightly different on forks as well.

I don't know if the wheels fit, but it's not unusual for dual disk rotors to be smaller than single disk. Something else to consider is the location of the calipers on the forks. A single disk caliper would be located higher up on the fork to account for the bigger disk. Dual disk calipers are lower down.
