I don't know if any of you have faced this problem, but if I launch hard or bang shift, the inertia causes my gas cap to pop open and throw gasoline all over my chest and crotch. The launch would overcome the spring pressure and allow the cap to open.
Finally found an easy fix besides buying a new cap.
You can remove the two screws holding the latch cover on, and you'll see a space between the back of the latch and the cap latch housing. Put a 7/16" long piece of ball point pen spring in that space and put the housing cover back on. It will supplement the existing spring and keep it from sliding back during the launch.
I haven't had a chance to really test it yet, but I can tell already that it works. The latch snaps shut with a lot more authority.

I had mine apart and lost the original spring altogether and the pen spring worked to replace it.

Yeah Tom, I thought about just replacing the spring with a pen spring, but it looked like the original spring was smaller in diameter and I didn't think a pen spring would fit in the groove.
Anyway, tested it last night. Works great.
Now I need more horsepower.
