Bottom Steering Race Kz900 was created by DoubleDub
So I have my new tapered bearing races to install, but I'm struggling to remove the bottom race/seal. I've tried my biggest hammer so far and the thing just won't budge.

I know this has probably been covered before, but the search button wasn't helping me find the answers. Any tricks as to loosening up the 33 year old race from the neck?

Thanks Don! I cut two groves in them using my Dremel and a cut-off wheel and a little tap tap and some grease on the steering neck and they popped right off!

Thanks for the help!

Thanks. I think I'm going to have to do that as I don't have any type of press that will get the lower bearing on - I didn't realize how tight it fits on the steering neck.

see if you can find a piece of pipe that fits around steering stem to help drive bearing on B)

I had seen that recommended, also using the old race on top of the new bearing so you weren't banging directly on the new bearing set. I haven't found the pipe I need, though.

Thanks for the help!

Well, some improvisation saved the day. I couldn't find a pipe with the right I.D., but my buddy suggested using the very large and cheap adjustable wrench that I had an slowly bang with hammer and rotate around the steering neck. This worked beautifully.

Thanks again! :P
