240 rear tire was created by ernie
I have been seeing a few KZs around with 240 rear tires and I,m needing information as much as I can get on how to get this accomplished. I have an aftermarket swingarm +6" that I got from redlinecycles I have converted to a 530 o-ring chain. Hurry Hurry man riding season is already here.

To run a 240 rear tire you'll need an outboard bearing support. To get the wheel centered in the frame, you'll have to A)run a jackshaft (see attached pic(personally I think that will look tacky)), B) replace part of the frame with rectangle tubing so the chain runs through the frame for proper alignment, C) or run the chain on the outside of the frame.

Is the swingarm even wide enough to fit a 240 tire with the cush drive, caliper bracket, etc? I thought the Redline arms were good up to about 200mm tires?

Streetfighter hit it right on the nose...

"Hurry Hurry man riding season is already here."
Seriously this isn't a weekend project...

You have chain to frame issues, frame support fabrications, rear suspension ( duals or mono) fabrication mounting issues, if mono then all your electrical/battery box requires modifications, chain and sprocket issues to contend with and now through into the mix, front end requirements to make this a somewhat decent & safe ride...

Unless of course you only plan on riding in a straight line all the time.

Again seriously speaking, slow down and do your research for can it be done, yes anything can be accomplished but at what price/time... Definitely not this weekend...

Other than looks why anyone whould you want a beach ball for a rear is beyond me. Leave that to the chopper set and see if they can keep up with you in the twisties. ;)

I like the look of the fat tire bike,on OTHER POEOPLES BIKES... 200mm is as wide of a ntire as one would want for twisties,i had a ninja and the 200mm tire actually wasnt as good as the 180,190 tire. One wouldnt think that lil diff would make a diff but it did.. Got a 190 on my ol kz,fat enough for the girls i go with....

Watch it folks,i have sticky fingers when it comes to a nice looking set of handle bars:)
