Leaky fork seels.
17 May 2009 09:52
About this time last year I totally rebuilt my front forks on my 82 GPz1100. The right seal lasted at best one month before it started to leek again. the tubes are in perfect shape, nice and smooth. When you read about these bikes on WIkipedia. they state that tis was a problem on these bikes.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_GPZ1100B1/B2
anyone els have this problem? I noticed that the seals slipped into the fork sleeves very easily. Could they be leaking on the outside and not on the inside? Has anyone ever seen this happen?

Yeah, I read that wikipedia article also (thanks for the post as I had forgotten about the article). I am only on my second GPz1100 (B2) and have replaced the fork seals also (no leak yet). I ran my first B2 for four years and the fork seals never leaked...guess I was lucky, according to the wikipedia article

Did you use factory Kawasaki seals? If not, that's the problem. I had a GPZ1100 and put those "leak proof" seals in and they both leaked whithin 50 miles. Put stock seal on and no further problems.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

No I used something that came from England. They were nice and tight around the fork tube but slipped into the pocket much to easily.
