GPZ Rear wheel
05 Mar 2006 18:30
I am looking into installing a 900 GPZ wheel on my KZ650 with a Suzuki swing arm ,, I know about the axle size being larger ,, But will Rear disc fit ? and sprocket ? Cush drive ? has anyone ever done this ?

What year GPz900? I have an early (84/85) Gpz900R/ZX900A rear wheel and brake in a Zephyr swingarm on my 650.
Don´t know much about the later GPz´s, but the early GPz 900s use the same diameter rear axle as the 650 (17mm), apart from that everything is different on the GPz wheel: 650 sprocket hub won´t fit, 650 cush drive won´t fit, 650 disc won´t fit and the 650 rear caliper won´t fit, you´ll need all the parts from the GPz. Using the stock GPz900 sprocket hub the wheel will also be too wide to be centered in the arm - i used a sprocket hub from a KZ1000 (J model I believe) with the GPz cush drive and 38T sprocket for a 750 Twin, had the rear axle and spacers made by a local machine shop. Bit of a puzzle but it wasn´t too hard and I´m pretty pleased with how it came out:

Thanks. Nope, no extra seat, but AmericanClassix have them, only $295. :pinch: It´s a 900 seat adapted to fit, was already on the bike when I got it.
Here´s another pic from the rear, gives you a better view of the brake parts - as you can see both disc and caliper are very different from the 650. The tire in the pic is a 130 Dunlop, I´m going for a 150 eventually ($$$).

Thanks for the extra picture you have been a big help .. Is your rim 3 inch wide ? A 150 should fit easy if it is .. I understand the price of tires $$$$$
