Swapping Speedo?

I would like to remove the Tach and speedo from my 82' KZ1100. I would like to see if anyone has had luck replaceing the speedo with something like a Dakota Digital speedo and or Tach? Something that is smaller and more out of the way. I am putting a Memphis Shades windshield on the bike and just need to get rid of some stuff up front...
Let me know.
Just got an 82 KZ 1100, working to fix it up as my first bike.

I havent used one of those but I do have a Tom Tom GPS hooked up to my bike now. It has a speedometer on it. I actually mounted it to the tach. Tach is kind of usless anyway on these bikes. I wouldn't ride without a GPS anymore. Sun doesn't bother it too bad...Russ
