I have a 18" cast wheel off a police bike. Outer rim width is 88mm.
Presnetly have a 16" cast wheel off a Ltd on the bike(KZ1000A1). Outer rim width is 100mm.
Front rim is presently a 19" but I also have an 18" off the same police bike.

Wondering what differences in ride might be expected with the different combos.

The 16" wheel assembly is pretty heavy. I've not had the 18" off the police bike so don't
know how it compares in the weight department.

If the police bike had come with a rear brake assembly I'd be all set solving the
problem in my other post :-)

Thanks,

you can get shorter side walls on 18" compared to 16" with will give a little firmer ride compared to taller sidewall.;)

Thanks. With new shocks and the 18" wheel I'll have a better
road feel. Will try down the road when there's some spare $ for
a tire to fit on the 18" wheel.

What about the 18" vs 19" front? Quicker turns? I know the FT500
with 16" wheels was a lot quicker turning than mine with the stock
wheels.

Mine has stock wheels. The 16" were on
a for sale FT that I took a test ride
on. He had superhawk forks and clipons.
IIRC the wheels and swing arm were off
a Yamaha sport bike.

The different sized wheels/tires can change handling a fair amount.

The smaller the diameter of the rear wheel the lower the back of the bike sits - this increases the trail/rake of the bike and slows the steering down a little. The reverse is true and in some situations can make for a very unstable bike.
