Steering bearings??? was created by 77street
so what do you guy's think.... at about 62ish mph I get a funny bobble... I say bobble because it's not side to side (wobble:) it's up and down. it completely disapeers at hight speeds. such as ton up lol. but man at 62ish it is anoying. I'm thinking it is steering bearings, but has anyone had problems with forks, or is my tire just out of balance??? It still has roller type bearings so I thought i would change them anyway, just whanted to see what you guys had to say.

check the balance on your tires also check the swingarm bushings if there is a play side to side it can cause wierd things to happen as far as your steering head bearings if they feel notchy then by allmeans change them but if they are just dry you can relube them.also strange handling issuse can occur from worn out fork springs a shoucks maybe time to up grade those aswell. also when did you first notice this problem was after you made any changes. also double check your tire pressures and wear and see if anything is going on with them.

I noticed it when I swap this frontend from another bike. the steering isn't notchy at all. I'll check the swing arm, and have the tire balanced. could it have something to do with the progressive rear suspension I just installed, they feel a little stiff?

When I first got my bike, if you let go of the handlebars it would dip to the right as soon as you let go. It ended up being bad neck bearings, so I don't think neck bearings would be causing your problem. Did you check the pressure in your front tire? I don't know if it would cause a wobble or not, but when my rear tire went low it made for an odd ride. It sounds to me like your tire is out of balance though.

Could also check for tire being possibly "out-of-round" (having a high spot in its circumference).

At the road speed where most noticeable, does very slight front brake application have any effect on the condition?

Good Luck! :)

patton...ya actualy light pressure makes it worse but under hard breaking it smoothes right out. I lossened the lower triple and the fender bolts and decompressed the suspension several times then tightened the triple repeated then tightened the fender bolts...that helped a ton, much more supple, but I don't think it actualy help the boble in the front, more just covered it up with better spring and dampning.... so tire aye? I have another I'll swap that out and see if that helps. I did notice that this wheel has been balanced once already, and I'm guess it's when they put the tire on. Maybe just a bum tire then.:S :S

belt do sometimes seperate on tires but that is usally pretty obvious. how does your swingarm feel any play in it when you grab hold and try to move it sideto side.

Am wondering about possiblity of a warped front brake disc which might be causing a pulsing sensation in the front end.

Good Luck! :)
