Will the top triple tree clamp off a 900, 1000, fit the 1100 KZ? Mines is a 82 1100

In a nutshell, no. Maybe. :) Fork tube diameters on the KZ900 are 37mm, as are the later successor KZ1000. The next generation 1000's, the 'J' series, have 39mm diameter fork tubes, as does the KZ1100 series. So maybe a post-1980 triple tree might fit. The 1979/80 KZ1000 Shaft series has a different tube diameter than both the 900/1000 and the later 1000/1100 tubes and will not work either.

The Z1/Kz650/900/1000 and maybe some others are 36mm not 37mm. Also the early police bikes are 38mm.

You are correct...to be even more precise, fork diam. on the 650/900/1000 series is 36.4mm and that of the 1000/1100 series is 38.4mm

i think the later cop bikes share the same top tree...post a pic of the issue and the guys may come up with a trick you can home do to salvage yours....just for info....i bought an entire early model trip/tree/stem/lower tree/all bolts/bar clamps....the whole animal for like twenty on e-bay once cause no one bid....you may find one too...cause a lot of cop bikes get parted out on e-bay.....bet it can be fixed though with a aouto zone thread insert??????post a pick...good luck....shit happens....craig

The problem with OEM clip-ons is that normally they don't clamp around the fork legs. They usually bolt to the triple tree.

I had a set of Paolo Tarrozzi clip-ons on my 1000 for a while. They're good quality but the problem was that the wat they assembled would let the bar move a little from it's original position.

On a 81 KZ1100 and a 83 KZ1000 the triple clamps will interchange and work well. (I have both bikes and have tried it)

The actual castings are different, because the mounting brackets (INSTRUMENTS, BOLT HOLES FOR BRACKETS, ETC) are different.

I have an extra KZ1100 triple clamp if it will help
