Frame Identification was created by Dustproof
Hi all,

I have a KZ650D2 SR, my problem is the frame number starts KZ650D-027~ I am trying to get a positive Identification for historic registration @ 30 Years Old here in Australia. :silly:

The Engine number seems to fit as a D2 but the frame seems to be a D3, my problem is that the D3 didn't come to Australia as far as I can see. It has been suggested it went to Europe and the UK.

In the Model History section here seems to show my frame IS definitely a D2. Conflicting information gets confusing considering the Australian Compliance plate shows the bike landed in Australia and was complied on 1/1980 very close to 1979 one would think.

Could a D2 have this frame number?

Thanks
Noel

Good Day Noel...according to the Kawasaki Model Recognition Manual (put out by Kawasaki, BTW) the frame numbers break down as follows:

KZ650D-000001 to KZ650D-010600 = 1978 SR D1
KZ650D-010601 to KZ650D-026000 = 1979 SR D2
KZ650D-026001 ~ = 1980 SR D3

Can't say anything about your engine VIN as you didn't post it. You have a D3.
