Cafe conversion
24 Mar 2009 17:52
Forgive me if I'm in the wrong category, but I'm looking for more info on on cafe conversions: what others have done, good parts resources for rearsets, etc. I'm trying to go cafe (to some extent) without totally molesting my 1980 kz750h. Any info is much appreciated.

Hey deoz,
You should check out dotheton.com for lots of cafe goodness. There is a whole section on rearsets.
I have mine cafe'd but I have yet to get rearsets. Doing it bit by bit. I have a thread on dotheton with a few pics of mine from last year: dotheton.com/index.php?topic=5964.0
Best of luck and keep us updated on the progress.

+1 on hitting up dotheton for anything cafe related. Forum sections over there dedicated to tank/seat and rearset mods, a lot of knowledgeable people too.
There's a lot you can do with these kz's without molesting them too much to ever go back to stock. Mine would take about 2 hours in the garage to be right back to mostly stock, although I don't ever see myself taking it back there...

...like the 3 KZ brothers above me, I must say "dotheton".
Herr, Anarki, and rst are all over there, and they have already helped me out greatly on my cafe conversion.

Thanks, it's been a long journey, but I do believe I see the light at the end of the tunnel on this project...need to have it done before july, so I can take her to the vintage race at Mid Ohio.
