Tire width???? I have seardhed and cannot find...

Hey boys,(and girls)
I have a question about my rear tire width. I am getting ready to relace my spoke wheels and am going to 17 inch rims. I was wondering what the widest tire I can fit between the stock swing arm is? I am going to go wider with the rim but I need to know the widest tire that fits so I can get the right rim width. I have no chain gaurd and am going to remove the center stand because the bike sits to high to use it. Any help would be much appreciated!!!!!!!! Oh ya I have a 78kz650.

I believe the widest with a 16" rim is a 140 possibly 150 and the widest with the 18" rim is a 130 sooooo I'm guessing a 140 on a 17" rim would be a tight fit. Your swingarm is your biggest restriction when it comes to wider rims/tires, not the rim/tire itself.

Thanks for the input Doug, I appreciate it. I was thinking about 4 1/4 rim and a 140 tire. so thats probably what I'll be going with. But if anyone knows for sure I would still love to here

Could check out Dunlop's site which shows widths of many different size motorcycle tires.
