Swapping mag wheels to spoked wheels was created by iandz500
I have a 1980 Z500B with mag wheels on it but i'm trying to go down a cafe racer route, does anyone know if any kawasaki spoked wheels will fit straight on?

and also would i need to change to use old brakes or could i refit my 3 disk set up?

Thanks
Iand

front spoked wheel off a 650/750/1000 should bolt on. but the rear is a little more challenging, im assuming your bike has a 18' rear with a disc akz750 twin or a kz 1000 wheel will work but it uses a 20mm axel and yours is a 17mm. you can either change swingarms or open up the slots in your swingarm, or possibly change the bearings in the wheel too fit a 20mm axel

Sorry to dash your hopes but the short answer is no, nothing I can think of will fit as to bolting right on. The 650/750/900/1000 with spoke wheels used a larger diameter axle as well as not being leading axle forks like you now have. Same thing in the rear the 750 and the 1000 with rear disc and spoke wheels both used larger rear axles than what you currently have. Also the manner in which your discs mount to your wheels is totally different than the setup used on the wheels you are thinking of trying to bolt on.

Gringo, does the Z500 have the same front wheel as the KZ550s in the USA?

As far as I know if it has a dual disc front end it would be more like our GPZ550 in that the discs bolt to the wheels with I think 7? allen bolts per side. The LTD and the 550 std. we got here were only setup for one disc on the LH side.

That would be about the only possible front wheel that might work although I'm unsure if they used the same small axle size that the 550's and 650 CSR's used. I do know that the front disc used on the 650 CSR's were unique to that model.

Since iandz500 is in the UK I'm sure he would have a hard time sourcing any CSR parts since they were not sold there. This is just one of those really tough things to do without changing over the complete front end and the rear swingarm as well.
