Wheels?

I want to lace my wheels to smaller diameters & hoops seem to be prohibitively expensive. Any one happens to know what bike might have a 16" x about 2.5 & a 17" x about 4 both with 36 spoke holes?? I think thats what I counted last night on my bike but I didn't write it down. I have a '77 650 model B1. Any help on this area would be greatly appreciated!

I go to ebay and search for the size rim I want. It pulls up a ton of wheels and takes forever to look through all of them. Some times you find one sometimes you dont.

A 16" front wheel is 3" smaller than stock. Have you checked to see that it won't result in contact by wheel or tire with caliper or fender mounts?

I've done a lot of measuring & I'm pretty sure everything will clear. I know all the brake components will. Like they say though, 'only one way to find out!'

Just found a 16 x 3 & 16 x 3.5 40 spoke harley wheels. Would that be compatable with a KZ hub? I would hate to out harley parts on my KZ though!

K, be careful using 16" "Harley" hoops and lacing to KZ hub. "Harley" hubs can be larger than KZ. thus the angles at which spokes exit from rims can be drasticly different.and are exagerated w.shorter spokes, Spoked wheels and laceing/truing are becoming a rare art. consult w/ an expert.if in doubt. specialist shops often offer re/drilling rims and making 1 off spoke sets/lac/and true. luck G

Been to the trumpet site. All their bikes with spoked wheels (bonneville, thruxton, scrambler)have a 17 x 3.5 40 spoke! Just gotta get one for cheap now...
