Question for all of you with more experience at this. I want a bigger tire on my 76 KZ900. The stock tire looks sissiefied. Hte bike is over 80hp stock, and it just looks to me like it needs more tire. I am just like everybody else, and don't have tons of money to just dump on this. I knwo there is a swing arm out there, that can get me up to a bigger tire, I have heard that a ZXR swing arm will work, anybody got any good success stories, with the details? How wide? Modifications required? offset chain details?
Thanks!

Have you tried using the "search forum" function? Just search for "swingarm swap" or "wider tire" or something like that. Who knows maybe you'll be able to find more info than what you asked for.

The biggest tire you can use with the stock arm is a 130 with a cast wheel. You could use a gs1100e swingarm and fit a 140 in it. But you will have to buy a wider rim and have it laced up. Cha ching. Or find a suzuki rear wheel thats already wider like I did. :P

I did the ZRX arm it wasnt too hard but it can get expensive. Its cheaper and easier if u buy a complete rear end.
I bought the rear end complete from a wrecker on the net for $700.
u need a whole new rear end by the time u are done.
Hear is my project page.

Then u need to change the front rim to match the rear.and of caurse u need wider forks for that wider rim.lol. it just keeps going.:woohoo:
I have a spare set of zx12 forks.

i was looking at the zrx swap too....finally i am just gonna brace my swingarm and run the best skinny (130) i can...i grew up in a group of guys that had 130 tires ,r90s,gs1100,kz,z1,,,,we never had any problems scraping the metal goodies ..and short of a track bike you can steer quicker too..my 2 cents....mark1122 is speaking common sense...where do you get done money and time wise once you start swapping????
allthough it is the trend here and looks bad to the bone...

B) Ok now that we have punished the children, we can move on.

I still think there is a way to put another swingarm on here without cutting welding or drilling. I do not want to alter my frame. I dont really care for the looks of the zrx arm because of the extra bar. There has go to be another way.

Well if we drop the swingarm for a minute, anybody tell me how wide you can go before you have to offset your chain? and a 5/8" offset, how wide can that get ya?

130 is about as wide as you can go in a stock KZ swingarm and I believe 140 with a stock suzuki GS swingarm without an offset.
