Rear Sprocket Cross Reference? was created by bountyhunter
I have a '79 KZ750 B4, which came stock with the 38T rear sprocket and 16T front. I want a higher gear ratio so I went up to 17T front, but it's still geared too low. What would be perfect is 17/36, if only I could find a 36T rear sprocket that would fit.

Any cross references for other bikes that run a 36T rear on 530 chain?

It is really annoying because they make an 18T front but it won't fit inside the chain guard, and might hit the neutral switch. The 17T front BARELY fits. They make larger rear sprockets but nobody makes a steel 36T that fits.

The only place to get smaller ones is from sprocket specialties and all of theirs are aluminum and run about $100 delivered. And aluminum wears a lot faster.

Would appreciate a source for a cross to another stock 36T rear sprocket since everybody makes those in steel.

That's what I thought too... which is why a maker like Sprocket Specialists should be able to make them in either steel or aluminum, but they don't. Only aluminum is offered in "custom" sizes, stock sizes are in steel.
