theres not much to the kits, about 10-$20 worth of materials .mild steel tubing and some heavy gauge sheetmetal, the little bit of weight differance between the chrome moly and mild steel aint worth the extra money in my book anyway.B)

I'm with you. I picked up some 3/4" OD .065" mild steel tubing at Lowe's and my dad grabbed me some 1/16-1/8" thick mild steel sheet scraps for free. I made my own kit using a Kosman and a PMC diagram as a guide. I made the braces for where I thought I need them for my particular intention for the bike.

I also picked up a 3/8"-12"x18" 6061-T651 Aluminum Plate for $54.10 and a foot of 1" Rd 6061-T6511 Extruded Aluminum round rod for $4.41 from www.speedymetals.com . I bought the plate big enough to do all the motor mounts plus an outboard bearing support plate and the 12" length of 1" round rod will do all the engine spacers plus some. It's just a matter of machining the parts to the requirements.

All I used to make my frame brace kit was a hacksaw, some files, angle grinder and a bench grinder....basic hand tools.

you can pick up the aluminum plate a lot cheaper than that, just find a welding shop with a scrap bin/bargain pile.last time i bought some scrap aluminum plate i paid less than $10 for a 2' square piece.Solomrus is still shaking his head from our last metal shopping trip across the bridge! welding shops buy lots of material for jobs and those small pieces are just left over so its just extra cash for them.
