Fork tube caps
30 Dec 2008 10:00
I'm looking for a set of fork tube caps for my 1978 1000. I currently have some kind of air system [ inactive] that requires a large brass nut on top of the fork tube. I want to go back to the original setup. They are the ones that thread down in the tubes flush with the top [see pic]. If anyone has a pair they are interested in selling please let me know.

A couple years back, I bought some off ebay. They are essentialy black rubber domes that have a square rubber bit that fits into the 1/2" square hole. I am not sure if they were OEM parts or not. I suspect they were. If you can find an OEM part number for this type cover, you could likely do a google search and find a pair. Failing to find any, I suspect I could fab some fairly easily out of aluminum or even wood.

Thanks WG, It is actually the threaded nut shown in the picture that I need. I just posted that pic I got from redline's site as an example of the model. I did find them new but there about $40 each. so I was hoping to find a couple used ones. Oh yeah, thanks for the amazing job on the carbs this past spring. The bike has never run better.Scott
