KZ550 Brake line question was created by insignia100
Hey guys, me again. I've finally been able to get some work done on my KZ550. Today I put on the superbike bars that I bought. It went pretty well except I discovered that the fitting where the brake line attaches to the master cylinder/brake fluid reservoir gets in the way and needs to be rotated to fit. Is there any easy way to just rotate the fitting, will I have to drain the brake fluid, or am I just SOL?

Thanks

If anyone needs pics to illustrate my problem I can take some tomorrow.

Shouldn't be a problem if it's just a matter of slightly loosening the banjo bolt and repositioning the brake line end fitting, then retightening the banjo bolt.

A little brake fluid will escape, so take precautions to keep it from contacting any painted parts. Could use a towel or shop rag to catch the seepage.

Brake line should not even need bleeding (unless it already needed bleeding).

Tip -- a hand spray cap on bottle of common household rubbing alcohol works well for many shop cleaning and quick "cooling" operations. And especially well when used to spray alcohol over the master cylinder and brake calipers, which rinses off any errant brake fluid, and easy to wipe off or just blow dry. I keep a bottle (plastic) near the work bench and use it to quick clean greasy tools before putting them away.

Good Luck! :)
