breaking the tire bead from the rim

So ,
i got some tire irons and wanna give some swaps on my rim collection,i saw a guy on youtube being very correct and building a bead breaker on the studs of a wall and some 2x4s and allthread. i wanna simple method anyone got a quick easy way to get the bead started off it's seat.
Sometimes the laziest laborer on the jobsite can achive true genius in simplicty in an effort to not work hard.

use a 6 inch vice or a bumper jack under the back bumper of your car i personally like the vise method i use that to break down slicks all the time if i don't have my bead breaker handy.

A C-clamp works well, the ones from Sears do anyway, the cheap ones with the plastic quick release sold at auto parts stores (and elsewhere) just break.

Ive used a hi lift jack before. I just bought & installed a Harbor Freight tire machine with the motorcycle tire adaptor that works really well. It has a bead breaker built on to it. $99.95 for the whole deal and just bolt it to the floor. Make sure the new tire is really warm, set it in the sun or heat it in front of a heater, they go on a lot easier. Mounted a rear 130/80-17 on a GS1100 yesterday

Maybe I got lucky. The two I just changed came off the rim pretty easy, I just used the tip of the tire iron to work it in and pry and it popped right off.

Mine came off pretty easy. Just replaced a tube last week. The warm tire trick will also help

Take two 9" lengths of 2x4. Lay one on the ground about a foot away from your car, running perpendicular to the car.. Put the tire/rim down on this. Set the other one on its end on the tire right next to the rim, right above the other 2x4. Grab an 8' 2x4. put the end of it under the side of your car and use it to push down on the vertical 2x4.

well it works on dumptruck and backhoe tires anyway!:laugh:drats,picture too big!hold one

Tube type tires break easy, it's the tubeless ones that make you work :)

Tube type fall right off with pressure from your feet standing on them. Tubeless there is no way in the world you are going to break them without a c-clamp ect. I read the 2x4 thing, maybe a different version, but it involved a short 2x4 standing vertically and using a longer 2x4 under the bumper of a truck. So it all comes down to leverage, more 2x4 on your end, less on the wheel end. The result was what I expected really, simply a broken 2x4 and the tire still alll mounted on the wheel.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
