I think you just push the plug down and peel the circlip out?

2 ways of doing it the one i like to use best is put the tube back inthe trees tighten the bottom clamp bolts not the top and press down with 1/2" breaker bar in the middle of the plug then use a pick and work the retainer ring out slowly taking care not to bend or deform it the other way is in a vise wrap the tubes with rags so that you don't chew up the tubes you will need a large vice and clamp it at least 6" below the top of the fork same procedure as above. one other thing depending how much rust their is in the top of the fork sometimes you have to use a hammer and alarge drift to give it a good solid rap on the fork top to shock the rust loose.

Looks just like my kz400's. I'd used timebombs first method, but used a #2 Philips head instead of the breaker. Also helps to have someone there to grab the circ clip with a pair of needlenose pliers once you're picked it out.

Hey folks, first post for me.
I am also in the process of changing out the fork oil but its on a 1983 KZ750F. The top of the fork looks the same as pictured. It comes out just like dutch and timebomb posted.

Be careful when the plug comes out as the spring is compressed and it will shoot everything in between out. Now I just have to figure out how much oil to use.
