KZ250 Brake Cable????? was created by clutch
Hey guys,

I have the bike taken apart for some preventative maintenance (chain, sprockets, wheel bearings, etc), and I noticed that my front brake cable is no good (seized up inside the rubber sleeve). I'm having issues finding anyone that carries the right cable that says it will fit my '80 KZ250 D1, but was hoping someone here either knows where to get one, or knows what other models' brake cables will fit. Any and all suggestions/ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Clutch

Well, the forum reads similar to my post...though someone there posted a link to getting custom cables made by motionpro....looks like my best bet. I will post back after calling them tomorrow about price/time/etc. Thanks for the reply and posting that link!!!

Here's some info from postings by Jeff Saunders (Z1 Enterprises) in an earlier thread.

Re: Shortest stock KZ clutch cable? 4 Months, 1 Week ago
www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=283

That is the shortest readily available cable. The Z1R has bars with only a 2"-2.5" or so rise (50mm-65mm).

Motion Pro makes any length you need. We have worked with Motion Pro to make a number of custom cables - some just shorter /longer versions of stock cables, others having different ends where alternate carbs or throttle assemblies are fitted.

Custom cables - depending on what is needed, they range from around $25 up to $50 each.

Good Luck! :)

Oh that's not too bad for price. Bike Bandit was asking $40 for the cable until it said it wasn't available! I haven't called motion pro yet because I found a cable on ebay that will work for me. If I don't win the auction, then I'll go with the custom job.
