I've read through the threads and can't get a true sense of what swing arm best replaces the original kz1000 swing arm.Does the GS1100 bolt right on, does the GS1000 also fit. Do they bolt right up? Is one , or the other the same length as stock? Can anyone inform me of the specific year/type of arm, the mods needed to complete the job ect. I'm not interested in lengthening the swing arm, just stiffening it. Thanks very much.

If you're only interested in stiffening the arm just brace the stock one. That way you know it fits without mods. If you want to go with a wider tire then teh Gs1100E arm would be the best thing as I believe the arm is close to the same length as the Kz arm.

DutchZ braced his swingarm. Myabe he can chime in here on how he did it. For the full build thread click here .

The aluminum GS swingarm bolts right in. No mods except a washers to take up the slight gap. The only change is you will need suzuki or older honda shocks with a clevis at one end instead of the eye.

ZRX1100/1200 swingarms bolt right in but you will need to modify the foot controls since the bolts are in the way of the bracing. If you run rearsets you will be ok.

Any swingarm can be made to fit, its just time and money really. :)

I also had a brace added to a stock arm, thus keeping the stock length and not needing to buy a new chain, wheel, brakes/lines and whatever else may be needed when a longer arm is put on. The center stand mounts did need to be removed though.
The GS aluminum arms are longer than stock are they not?

I have the '77 swing arm with only two bearings, not the latter four bearing model. Is it worth getting a four bearing model to brace, or is the two bearing one good enough?

The GS swingarm is about 1 1/2" longer than a KZ arm.

i like the looks of the braced stock arms, but it adds a lot of unsprung weight to an allready heavy swingarm :(

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

don't think you can notice a difference between two or four bearing except when it comes time to change em.

Ok what about the zr1100 swing arm? How would that work with a kz or would it not? I had an old zep11 that burned in a garage fire but couldn't salvage the parts of it before my next door neighbor complained about trash in my back yard. My garage was a cinder and she was worried bout a little old bike. But I was thinking that the swing arm woulda looked nice on my bike.
