84 Ninja 900 parts swap to KZ1000
22 Oct 2008 18:43
I can pick up a 84 900 Ninja parts bike reasonable. Would any of the parts be a reasonable swap to a 79 KZ1000? Such as front forks or rear swingarm? I want to improve performance and reduce weight on my KZ. Thanks

The Ninja forks wheels and brakes are not that much better then the stock KZ1000 parts. Keep an eye out for a newer part bike, so you can end up with an adjustable cartridge fork, 4pot brake calipers, and wider/lighter wheels. I am gathering parts to do this work to my 1980 KZ1000LTD. I'll be using mostly YZF and FZR Yamaha parts

That year ninja is not worth the trouble. Gixxer suspension and wheels are plentiful and reasonable along with other newer bikes. I used 96 zx7r front end and a zrx1200 rear, that included 6 pot calipers and a 6" rear rim.
