1976 Kz900 sproket locking pin

I just lost my thread so I will spin a new one. Here goes> What goes in that little hole beside the splines? I'm assuming it's a locking pin, What kind:unsure: ? Where can I get one? I was thinking about getting one from the hardware store and filing it down:huh: , Is that a dangerous idea:unsure: ? I dont want to order anything I'm sick of waiting and paying shipping:angry:

I'm assuming your depicting the rear axle bolt...
If so, it's just a cotter pin (4 x 35) which can be purchased at ACE hardware stores or any automotive store in your area. Probably available at Home Depot and Lowes as well.

It's sole purpose is to prevent the rear axle nut from back spinning off... Other than that, doesn't really do anything else...

if you are talking about the front sprocket, the small hole is for a tab on the lock washer to hold the nut on, also use some red locktite on the nut,,, sucks when they come off
