New tubes rusting! was created by TeK9iNe
I just got a brand new set of fork tubes from "Forking by Franks". They looked great, and worked even better.

Then, I come out the next morning, and blam! They are covered in rust! Like head to toe rust!

Now, I dont know too much about tubes, but shouldnt they be hard chromed?!? I dont think they should rust the next day! No rain or anything, and they are covered in rust spots!

Any advise on what I should do? I waited a long time for these to be installed. Is it normal? Should I be oiling them or something else?

Please help :S

I would suggest calling them to ask them that and if you don't get anywhere then reverse the charges on your credit card immediately. That will get their attention for sure. If that doesn't then at least you will have a pair of free tubes. Try some wd40 and spray them really good and then wipe them down. Hard to say what happened if you don't have a picture to show the rust but I don't think that is in any way normal.

I wonder if a plating process was missed during the fab of the tubes? Or due to costs, their using a lower grade of steel and not telling anyone about it.
