750 frame and 250 motor was created by steveks
Hello KZers,

I likely already know the answers, however I thought I would ask this knowledge group just in case. I have a 1980 KZ 250 that I got running pretty good recently. I bought the bike for $150 out of a barn and there was no title to go with. Last owner bought out of a barn with no title also. Kansas is not flexible about bikes without titles, it requires hiring a lawyer and getting a quiet title ruling from a judge. So, I really have 2 questions:

1. How difficult is it to switch everything over to a titled KZ 250 frame?

2. There is a locked up 1979 KZ 750 with title in my area for a reasonable price. Would my 250 motor fit on the frame of a 750??? Not likely without a lot of modifications right.

Thank you.
Steve

My two cents, given that I've never tried that particular swap.

Going from one 250 frame to another 250 frame should be easy.

Installing a KZ250 motor in a KZ750 Twin frame ought to be fairly easy, since the twin is so much larger you'll have plenty of room.

I think the 250 motor into the 750 twin frame is a good idea, a full size bike with a fuel squeezing motor is just what's called for at todays gas prices.
