kz1000st frame question
13 Feb 2006 15:05
Hey All!
looked in the archives and couldn't find an answer to this; does the '79 kz1000st use the same frame as the other models of the kz1000? just wondering about parts interchangeablility.
also, i'm thinking about trying to find some pull back risers for my kz1000st, and was wondering if anyone knows a good outfit for lengthening (sp?) cables, or that sells longer cables. rubber side down.

The frame on the ST is not the same or even close to other 1000s. If the topic of coversation is a 1000ST and the question involves "did any other motorcycle use this part other than the ST?" The answer is no. The ST is a unique model with very little shared with any other model. Other than basic parts such as brake pads, internal engine parts ect, nothing else was the same as any other model made.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

ronkz650 is right they are diffrent. the St (the shafty) is diffrent than all the other kz1000's. the mkii looks alot alike but the ST diffrent. it is a little wider in the rear. the mkii body parts such as the tank and rear fender dont mount up on the ST. i tried to go the other way once using the st fender and tank for my mki frame but they would have to be altered to work.

Hey All!
thanks for the reply! in a previous life, i tried to build a basketcase '81 sportster. the '79-'81 sporty is the same way; nothing from any other harley fits.
i guess it's just my karma to have a bike that's totally unique! lol thanks again.
