im putting on a sterring dampner on my 1975 z1900 is there any special kind of bolts i should use to connect this to the bike?

How are you going to secure it to the frame and bars/tripple tree? Some drilling might be needed to mount the dampner. I'd use what the manufacturer suggests or the strongest AN/NAS bolt that would fit the ends.

ZI Had frame and steering mount from the factory.
Use grade 8 bolts.
The frame mount should have a corner brace welded in. They are notorious for
bending or braking at the frame.
In most cases a set of roller bearing on the steering stem is more bang for your dollar. Im my opinion.

That was the first accessory I installed on my new Z1 35 years ago. The triple tree and frame had a hole and bracket already there. The damper still works, it never leaked, and I never had any problem with wobbling. I put in the roller bearings in the steering head a couple years ago.
