From the ground up... it looks alot like most other concepts for built 650s.

Modern forks off a newer bike and an extended aluminum swingarm, bigger modern racing tires as well with disk/drum combo mounted on spoke tires for weight.

A few reinforcements to the frame as per my liking depending how it handles or flexes.

Superbike bars and a comfy seat.

Ported/polished 650 head with: 83-85 GPZ cams, performance valves/springs. 810cc equipped. A good 4-1 exhaust with no baffles. 29mm Mikuni Smoothbores. Pods for the carbs. Dyna 2000 ignition.

A built 650 with this setup should be good for well over 140mph shouldn't it? The testing on the Bonneville flats with the first kz650s with only pistons/cylinders swapped out, bigger carbs and a 4-1 exhaust hit the traps doing 143mph. The 810 kit with other goodies like cams, springs, electronic ignition and pods should deliver alot more?

Not to mention I think with the extended swingarm and that setup with the right gearing 10 second 1/4s should be quite achievable?

So much potential heh heh.

The seat was custom made for me by Corbin. The wheels are stock C model just powder coated white along with the frame.
I ride it Laguna Seca every year for World superbike and it gets more looks than the newer bikes. It handles and performs great, very fast and pulls hard. I only wish it had a 6th gear, I top out at 120 MPH. The GS swingarm was pretty easy. Here is the link to mine.

Who am I kidding :)
My bike reinforced frame, zr7 or gpz 750, wichever engine with a 810 kit and all the light weight components for valve train. Pushing 115 hp, zx swingarm setup with mono shock(I have), I havent desided on front end? No rearfender, one seater, Cut the tail of the frame and bend it up to look like the newer bikes.

Heyas, Okay I'm new to this board, new to riding and just bougt a 78 kz as my beginner bike.

So, uh... how the hell did you manage to shoehorn a kz1000 engine into the frame of the 650?

There are (or was) at least two members with 1000 powered KZ650's, one had custom fabbed motor mounts that set the motor low enough that the tank did not hit the cam cover, I think the other one modified the tank for clearance. There is (or again was) a member with a GPz750 with a GPz1100 motor in it, and the GPz750 motor will bolt in the 650, so dream big :D

There is a 1000 in a 650 frame. Basically you use the front engine mount for the 650 to the 1000 then weld in other mounts to match the 1000. Dont forget to gusset the frame.

The ultimate 650 should be bored to 750, have a turbo, fuel injection, mild cams, Unitrak rear suspension, and a full fairing with a swoopy tank and seat unit in black and red. It should make 100hp at the wheel and make boost from 4500rpm.

You could call it....

Nice one LorcanB)
Any ideas on why they quit making factory turbo bikes? It doesn't make sense to me, its the ultimate power adder, just look at what a turbo kit does to a new sport bike (if anyone wants HP numbers, check out mrturbo.com). Somebody should "make" Kawasaki design a new line of ZX based turbo bikes. :woohoo: talk about blow away the competition!
