I just got a KZ305 and I noticed the chain was way to loose. It was sagging so much that it was touching the frame. So I adjusted it and tightened it up but now it is making a clicking type noise in the front as well as in the back.

As far as I can tell I have it aligned and at the correct tension. Does anyone know what my problem may be? Thanks

If it is making noises, clicking it is most likely binding and is worn out.

Go to Z1 and get a new chain. Some new sprockets are cheap as well.

In the mean time, assumng that everything is alligned properly, then clean and oil the chain. Put a lot of oil on it and see if that helps.

You should oil your chain regualarly to ensure that it does not fail on you.

Many years ago I was planning a trip to Montana from Oregon. I knew my chain was worn so I elected to replace it. I'd been told to replace the sprockets while I was at it but being headstrong I reckoned that I only needed to replace the countershaft sprocket being as it had the fewest teeth. The rear sprocket looked fine so I went with it. I did the swap the day before I was to leave. I even used an endless chain which meant I had to pull the swing arm to install it. Any way a couple of hours into the trip I realized that the rear sprocket was buzzing whenever I was on the gas and ran quite whenever I was coasting.

I ended up pulling over to the side of the road where I removed the rear wheel and flipped the sprocket over so that the bike ran quietly while on the gas and buzzed whenever coasting. I finished the remainder of the 1200 mile trip that way.

Needless to say I redid the whole job when I got home, sprockets, chain and all.
