Anyone know how to get
the fork lock out of '80 KZ1000? Dont have a key for it
its in unlocked postion,would like to replace it or get a key for it,any chance a key code could be gotten from its V.I.N. # and a key cut? (Ign. and seat locks changed years ago)I looked around on the fork lock area,didnt see a code # on the the lock.Also theres a sliding cover over the key hole,looks like a pin is pressed in to hold it on,can that just be pried out and off?

When I replaced the ignition switch on my 82 GPZ1100 B2, I had to drop the headlight housing down to access the two allen bolts holding the switch to the console from the back side.

I don't know either, but why bother really? The forklock can be broken by simply turning the bars with force pretty much anyone over the age of 12 has. I buy a parts bike with the forks locked and simply break the lock by turning the bars. Real security there.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Yeah i know theyre not not strong locks on the forks,but i'd like to have the lock mechanism in place and working just to have everything working and in real good shape on this bike,probably never would use it anyway,its just kinda like an owners manual,not critical but neat to have with the bike.
