Front End Swap KZ750
16 Aug 2008 16:36
I have a '80 KZ750-4 LTD. I also have a mid '80s complete GPZ 1000 front end. Anyone know the easiest way I can make these work together? I have a complete '81 kz750 parts bike so I took off the head stock to compare the triples and fork tubes etc. They are close but no cigar. GPZ forks are obviously a little bigger(larger diameter), and a little farther apart.

All Balls will probably have the bearings you need to do the swap. I put a 99 GSX front end on my 80 750E, and GPzInfested put a 83 GPz750 front end on his 79 KZ650SR using bearings from All Balls. Cost right around $40 for each bike.

I recently purchased a 1980 KZ750 4 ltd and I was wondering which front end swap would be best. I really like the look of the big round discs on alot of sport bikes. I'm keeping everything cruiser I just want to stop better.

My recommendation is to measure the unloaded length of your forks, shop around for a setup (Hopefully complete with brakes, wheel, and triple clamp would be nice) that you like, then have a member here make you a new triple that fits your frame and your new forks, or just a stem.
I'm a little embarrassed because I can't remember his name, but I've finished two quarts of frozen Margaritas so far.

At least two members make front end conversion stuff.

Les Holt, his bike was recently featured in a magazine I believe. You can read about it here, and PM Les
Both do quite nice work.
