I put a zx9 front end on this winter. I just discovered the speedo is out by about 12 miles/hr.
I had to change the threaded end on my kz cable to match the threads on the zx9 speedo gear at the wheel.
I just assumed that the speedo would work right.
any suggestions?

76 KZ, frame gusset work,1200CC.Ported by Larry Cavanaugh, 1.5mm.over intakes, Carron Pipe, ZRX12 rear end, and seat,96zx9 front end.
01 CBR600F4i Track bike.

Add or subtract 12 mph from or to what your speedo says. I know I'm very wise! :blush:
Is it because the wheel circumference is different? Prolly a stupid question...and no help at all.

Yes the wheel is a 17",but i thought the gearing in the stock zx9 speedo drive would take care of that. there must be a diff ratio from the zx9's wheel gears to the KZ's speedo gears.

Sounds like you may be a candidate for a GPS speedo thingy.
