Police triple trees for 80 KZ1000...which ones?

Can anyone give me some ideas on putting the police triple tree on a 80 Kz1000 A4 so i can get the wider stance, and also go to a wider wheel/tire combination? I've seen several different police bike models on ebay, I've seen that most are 41 mm tubes,where the 80 KZ is 39mm tubes, so may have to get a front end pretty much complete from a police bike,just need to know which series police bike will work best on the 80 KZ.And how much wider are they,...like 2 inches or??...is it worth doing for the hassle involved?
Will the A model lights/gauges, and all bolt up the same on the police triple trees? has anyone done this? Thanks for the input.

One of many projects I was going to do years ago was "Sportbike" wheels on a '75 Z1. Collected a bunch of different parts and lost interst before I started conversion. Left the bike intact and bought a Hayabusa. I have a "Police" front off KZ(year?)and several wheelsets off ZX6's. Have photos and dimensions if sounds like anything you were thinking of. Will sell all or none.

Yeah Jeff, i'll keep you in mind, i have to find out which model is the easiest to convert over first,There were several police bike models,and i dont know which one will fit the old KZ.

The one I have looks like a direct tradeout on the "triple tree". Lower part: stem diameter and length are same. Overall width (center to center) of tubes is 1" wider. Gauge hookup appears to be same also. Can't find paperwork where I bought it right now, but believe it to be from '70's Po-Po bike. I've got $80.00 in it.
